About

time for all ages 3I am a Unitarian Universalist minister. I currently serve the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Binghamton, NY. I have been there since 2003. You can find our more about the Binghamton congregation I serve here

I am a fourth generation Unitarian Universalist, and the son of an ordained UU minister.  My mother, Rev. Elizabeth M. Strong, was ordained as the Minister of Religious Education at the First Unitarian Church of Rochester, NY when I was thirteen.  As perhaps one would assume, the church was an enormous part of my life during my formative years.

I graduated from Meadville Lombard theological School in Chicago, IL in 1999 and was ordained at May Memorial Unitarian Universalist Society in Syracuse, NY in June of that year.

Theologically, I identify as a Theist. A little more nuanced, I will say I am a Buddho-Humanist, Christo-Pagan with occasional bouts of mysticism.

This site is a repository of my writings and videos.

  1. Hi Doug, hope you’re well! We were in youth group together in UU Rochester way back in the day. You may or may not remember me. I played Jesus in a couple of the annual plays (Jesus, Carpenter’s Son and Jesus Christ Superstar), but stopped going to church the following year. I’ve recently returned to UU while raising two kids and helping them navigate the deep waters of religion. Was perusing various UU Rochester things on a nostalgia kick and came across your name here. So glad to see that you followed in your mom’s footsteps to become a leader and minister yourself!

  2. Friends of mine in Binghamton are having a memorial at your church today and my memory was jogged back to the writing group in Endicott many years ago. Your writing always sparkled and browsing through this site, I see you still have the shine! Hope you are well … just wanted to give you a friendly wave hello!
